Jenipher Jones is a Civil Rights and Advocacy Attorney based in Colorado. Based on her professional and personal experiences, Jenipher brings an intersectional movement lawyering approach to advancing civil and human rights. Jenipher graduated from Bennett College for Women with honors, earning a B.A. in Political Science. She then earned her Juris Doctor degree, with an emphasis in civil rights and constitutional law, at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. There she held membership to the Loyola Maritime Journal Law Journal. Jenipher began her career in civil rights as a fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center working on juvenile justice issues concerning the school-to-prison pipeline. Jenipher then accepted a legal clerkship at the then City of New Orleans Office of Inspector General - Office of the Independent Police Monitor. There she worked on law enforcement accountability: constitutional policing, policies, training, community outreach and policing strategies, and implementation of the landmark federal consent decree involving the New Orleans Police Department.
Following her clerkship Jenipher entered into private practice, practicing in the Immigration, Civil Rights, and Public Policy Division of Orleans Legal LLC. There she represented foreign nationals subject to removal, mandatory detention, and worked with community stakeholders to advocate for issues of public import. Thereafter, Jenipher practiced in the United States Postal Service - Office of the General Counsel- National Employment Litigation Unit (NELU) of the United States Postal Service (USPS) handling class action employment discrimination matters. Jenipher has been published in domestic and international publications. She is a recurring contributor to an internationally renowned entity dedicated to the health and wellness of women of color. She is a board member and advocate for the grassroots Rocky Mountain Neighborhood Conservancy organization and is a member of the US Human Rights Network IPAD Working Group to the United Nations.
